Course Description
Upon completion of this course, students should get a basic understanding of the retailing practices in various developed and developing countries, and be able to appreciate how differences in market structure, culture and consumer behavior bring about differences in retailing strategies across these countries.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to:
1. Compare and contrast various international retailer’s strategy and expansion patterns.
2. Assess regulatory and economic environments along with the impact they have on international retail development behavior and purchasing patterns in various global markets.
3. Describe how retailers need to vary their retail structure by depending on the global market to meet the customer’s textile and apparel needs.
4. Provide examples of how international retailers adapt to local conditions and market local textile and apparel brands to attract.
5. Apply critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving processes to issues and concern in fashion retailing.
6. Demonstrate an understanding of the similarities and differences of other cultures, people, and place as they impact strategic planning.
7. Understand organizations and histories underlying government in global context.
