Course Description
The Research Ethics course covers core Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) topics suitable for those involved in research, ranging from upper-level undergraduates to established faculty. Particular emphasis is given to the educational needs of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
The RCR Basic Course consists of 12 modules and 3 additional modules of interest including: Introduction to RCR, Authorship, Collaborative Research, Conflicts of Interest, Data Management, Financial Responsibility, Mentoring, Peer Review, Plagiarism, Research Involving Human Subjects, Research Misconduct, Using Animal Subjects in Research, Environmental and Social Dimensions of Engineering Research, Export Controls and National Security, and Research, Ethics and Society.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to have basic ideas of research ethics.
CILO-2: Students will be able to develop awareness to avoid plagiarism in person research.
CILO-3: Students will be able to develop research strategy in view of research ethics.
