Course Description
This course provides students with a solid foundation about International Criminal Law and analyzes its historical development and current trends from a critical perspective. The first part of the course surveys the history and sources of International Criminal Law. It explores the judgment of the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg and the approach of the tribunal in relation to the crimes under its jurisdiction: war crimes, crimes against peace and crimes against humanity.
The second part of the course consists of an analysis of the work of the modern ad hoc international criminal tribunals and of the International Criminal Court.
