Course Description
This course intends to analyze current issues regarding health, science (medicine and genetics) and the human body, not only in light of Macanese law, but also having in consideration the experiences in comparative law. Topics to be discussed include civil and criminal medical liability; patient rights and responsibilities; reproductive techniques; genetics; new technologies in health care delivery and pharmaceutical law. The course offers a multidisciplinary approach intended to provide a deep and legally grounded knowledge on health law as an autonomous scientific domain.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to get familiar with the general issues regarding Health Law.
CILO-2: Students will be able to get familiar with the current theories and case law of civil medical malpractice.
CILO-3: Students will be able to get familiar with the current theories and case law of criminal medical malpractice.
CILO-4: Students will be able to get familiar with the current theories and case law of administrative/disciplinary medical malpractice, and to get familiar with the specific topics of Health Law, such as informed consent, loss of chance, telemedicine, etc.
