Course Description
In this course, the students will through handling hypothetic cases under the supervision of the course coordinator develop lawyering skills such as interviewing, negotiation, communication, facts investigation, legal research and analysis, applying the legal theories and principles to the real client case or situation, legal writing and drafting, as well as professional ethics and responsibilities.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to communicate with a client using appropriate language and style.
CILO-2: Students will be able to interview a client to ascertain the factual circumstances of his case and his major concerns.
CILO-3: Students will be able to effectively document a proper attendance note on the interview and a case summary.
CILO-4: Students will be able to identify and analyse the legal and factual issues of a client case.
CILO-5: Students will be able to conduct legal or other research to facilitate advice to be given to a client.
CILO-6: Students will be able to apply the legal theories and principles identified from local and comparative literature to the client’s case or situation.
CILO-7: Students will be able to explore legal and yet practical solutions to the client’s case to suit the client’s needs or concerns.
CILO-8: Students will be able to build a pro bono ethos and commitment to public service.
