Course Description
Information Technology brings about opportunities to business development but at the same time ethical dilemmas which, when not managed properly, may lead to legal disputes or even business demise. Understanding the ethical, legal, and societal implications of Information
Technology are important to all business professional. This course covers topics like professional codes of ethics, file sharing, and infringement of intellectual property, security risk assessment, internet crime, identity theft, employee surveillance, privacy, compliance, social networking, and the ethics of IT corporations.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Explain and describe the current models of IS/IT ethics
2. Justify the purpose and adventage of professional codes of ethics
3. Apply ethical theoriws to interpret individual and group behavior when applying various IS/IT tools
4. Evaluate the nature of ethical choices made by one-self and others when serving various roles in both social and business environment
5. Demonstrate knowlege in general risks identification, evauation and implementation of controls in selective areas or applications
