This course aims to introduce the most recent and advanced technologies in the field of drug discovery. Particular emphases will be on lead generation and optimization where multidisciplinary and multifunctional efforts are essential to progress the candidate drug to the clinics. New technologies used in the fields of target selection/identification, hit identification, rational drug design, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, preclinical lead optimization, drug formulation and toxicity studies, will be introduced.

CILO-1: Show a good appreciation of the drug discovery process. CILO-2: Become familiar with the new technologies that are currently utilized in the fields of target selection/identification, hit identification, rational drug design, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, preclinical lead optimization, drug formulation and toxicity studies. CILO-3: Show a deep understanding on new technologies in the specific fields that are relevant to his/her research projects. CILO-4: Come up with research plans that could make use of the new technologies in his/her research projects.
