Course Description
The course explains the legal foundation of the European Communities/Union, which is based on the treaties signed by the member states, and it introduces the decision-making procedures, roles and competences of the institutions, and especially the Commission, Council, Parliament, Court of Justice ... etc. in the process of construction of the European single market.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify the legal roots of European Union ‘s integration, sources of law, institutional architecture, decision-making process and modes of interaction between and the respective authorities and tasks of its agencies.
CILO-2: Summarize the EU’s legal order, general principles governing the establishment and application of its law, and competences of the Court of Justice and Court of First Instance.
CILO-3: Explain the legislative processes and judicial features of the EU institutional settlement and the relation between EU and national legal systems and its relevance.
CILO-4: Discuss how the legal development, ruling of the Court and law enforcement endeavor in the process of integration.
