Course Description
This course provides an introduction to statistical techniques which can be applied to the fields of International Relations and Public Administration. The emphasis is on explaining statistical procedures and interpreting statistical results. The topics to be covered include: introduction to statistics, sampling concepts, frequency distribution, central tendency and dispersion, probability distributions, statistical inference and hypothesis testing, contingency tables, linear regression, and an introduction to Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Explore the strengths and limitations of statistical analysis and make sense and use of data with appropriate statistics.
CILO-2: Identify and understand essential statistical concepts and techniques, and their application to public administration or international relations.
CILO-3: Apply appropriate statistical tools to analyze issues in public administration or international relations.
CILO-4: Communicate statistical findings effectively to personnel and professionals from public sectors, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and businesses.
