Course Description
This course introduces fundamental aspects of assessment in Chinese education. Students will learn principles of assessment, different types of assessment, and the relationship of assessment with student learning and classroom instruction. Major concepts covered in this course include reliability and validity; norm- vs. criterion-referenced testing; formative vs. summative assessment; performance assessment; and portfolio assessment. Students will be equipped with a suite of knowledge and skills for constructing, analysing and evaluating tests and assessment tasks for Chinese language and literacy. They will also develop essential data literacy skills for interpreting and using assessment results for informed educational decisions.
