Course Description
This course prepares students for teaching reading and writing in secondary school, and supports them to develop a reflexive approach towards learning to teach secondary literacy. Students will develop a solid understanding about literacy development in secondary school students and principles for teaching secondary literacy. They will learn a range of methods for teaching reading and writing and develop a repertoire of strategies for reading and writing instruction across genres. They will also learn how to analyse Chinese curriculum and develop resources, materials and strategies to promote secondary school students to be motivated and strategic readers, writers and learners.
