Course Description
The course includes two goals :Semiconductor Physics for 1) electronic devices and 2) for interaction of photons with semiconductor materials. It introduces concepts and characteristics of principles, theories, operations for both semiconductor & laser cavity with optic fiber as transmission medium. Its objective is for engineering students to understand and to apply the knowledge of quantum physics to the semiconductor applications.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Explain elementary properties of semiconductor, energy bands structure, carrier properties, devices properties and various semiconductor fabrication techniques.
CILO-2: Discuss common transport phenomena in semiconductor devices (operation underlying physics principle).
CILO-3: Provide the Physics fundamentals for possible advanced study/innovation in Semiconductors & Optics.
CILO-4: Demonstrate professional writing and presentation skills.
