Course Description
This is an introductory course on advanced computational methods for civil engineering. The methods are potentially applied to coastal city vulnerability and resilience analysis, system modeling and updating, dynamical system identification, structural reliability and control, statistical analysis and uncertainty quantification, and more. Students will learn foundational knowledge and principles of advanced computational methods. Also, the students will be equipped with exploring state-of-the-art computational tools and methods to enter the corresponding research fields.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Apply computational methods to address challenges in Civil Engineering by demonstrating knowledge of underlying principles and mathematical foundations.
CILO-2: Construct the governing model of the concerned systems for computational analysis.
CILO-3: Conduct the introduced computational methods for numerical simulation.
CILO-4: Apply and explore advanced computational methods to analyze problems related to civil engineering and coastal environment.
