The course provides students with an understanding of the following issues: • The need for research ethics and the responsibility of the researcher (the student) • The most common types of academic dishonesty (such as fabrication and plagiarism) • How to avoid committing acts of academic dishonesty (such as through using citations and references)

CILO-1: Students will be able to assess what constitutes good practice in research and what factors make research ethical or unethical. CILO-2: Students will be able to describe the purpose and value of ethical decision-making. CILO-3: Students will be aware of ethical issues that may arise during research. CILO-4: Students will be aware of international guidelines on ethics in research.
