Course Description
This course looks at the historical, current and contested role of translation in the language classroom. The course covers theoretically-informed practice, from the unfashionable era of ‘grammar translation’ to the current re-evaluation of the role of translation practices in language learning and teaching.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Evaluate the role of translation in language teaching critically.
CILO-2: Express the advantages and disadvantages of using the L1 in L2 learning
CILO-3: Critique and design activities that aim to use translation productively in the L2 classroom.
