Course Description
This course considers the role of literature in language learning from a theoretical and practical perspective. Topics covered may include the role of literature in the service of linguistic imperialism, the role of stylistics in grammar instruction, and the place of the literary text in communicative and intercultural language learning task design.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Evaluate the roles of literature in language teaching critically.
CILO-2: Express the advantages and disadvantages of using different kinds of literature in L2 learning.
CILO-3: Critique and design activities that aim to use a range of literary genres productively in the L2 classroom.
